Slumdog Millionaire.jpg

As shown in the table below you can see by the separate factors being age, gender and class made the film such a success.

ages

as shown below people between the ages of 4 and 14 did not watch the film, this could be because the film didn’t interest that age of audience but people aged between 15 and 24 were the largest percentage of people to watch the film, this is because the film was somehow more relative to the audience of those ages. The percentage of female viewers were more than those of the male audience, women are more likely to watch a film like Slumdog millionaire because it has hints of romance in the film and women are more interested in watching such films about love and passion whereas men would prefer to watch a comedy or action film.

As shown in the class section more people from the middle class in such professions e.g a builder watched the film more rather than those people that are in upper class professions for example judges and lawyers, in some way people could say that the upper class decided not to watch the film because they are not interested in seeing people that live in slums become happy and successful through winning money on a game show, whereas this would interest a lot more middle class people.

Video/dvd release poster

‘‘The feel good film of the decade’’, this is shown on the cover of the dvd directly below the picture, this could be attracting to the audience because everyone likes to feel good and if someone was to purchase a dvd they may be more interested to purchase this particular one because of the good effect it may have on the buyer. the review reflects on the film mainly because Slumdog millionaire is a feel good film.

the cover of the dvd is bright and exciting, there are streamers in the air and the boy and the girl on the cover have a facial expression of excitement and happiness this shows to the public instantly that the film is going to be full of joy and happiness rather than violence and action, because the background is white its a neutral color whereas if the background was black you could assume the film is going to be a horror or even an action film.

In some cases the dvd cover can be better than the actual film poster itself, on a poster it can only have maybe one or two pictures but on a dvd cover you can have space to put in a couple of captions from the film for the audience to see and have a look of some other parts of the film.
