BBC Films is the feature film-making arm of the BBC. It has produced or co-produced some of the most successful British films of recent years, including Stage BeautyA Cock and Bull Story andMatch Point. It currently produces approximately eight films per year.

Up until 2007, BBC Films was ran and funded as a private company, with its own offices (in Mortimer Street around the corner from Broadcasting House), while still under the full control of the BBC. A recent re-structure of the division has seen it re-integrated into the main BBC Fiction department of BBC Vision, under the ultimate control of Jane Tranter. As a result, it has moved out of its independent offices into Television Centre and its head, David M. Thompson, has left to start his own film production company.

BBC Films brings the world a reel taste of the UK. The company is the movie production subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Through partnerships with other studios, BBC Films co-produces about eight independent movies each year. The studio aims to make movies with a strong British sensibility, and also actively looks for new talent. (Although it has been expanding its oeuvre to include more international- and US-centric projects.) In addition to theatrical releases, BBC Films also produces television movies and dramas for air on the BBC and other outlets. Movie releases have included Billy Elliot, Match Point, Hideous Kinky, and David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises.

Creation is a powerful story which illustrates a key period in Darwin's life: the years while he was formulating one of the most important works ever written - On the Origin of Species is a book that changed forever the way people think about mankind's evolution.
Paul Bettany stars as the charismatic Charles Darwin, a brilliant scientist and devoted father. Inspired by Annie, his treasured daughter, Darwin writes On The Origin Of Species and finds himself not only pitted against society's beliefs, but against his wife Emma. Yet the decision to publish his manuscript rests in Emma's hands. Jennifer Connelly plays Emma, a deeply religious and passionate woman faced with a terrible choice: her faith or the man she loves.
Jon Amiel (Entrapment, Sommersby, The Singing Detective) directs from a screenplay by John Collee (Master and the Commander: The Far Side of the World, Happy Feet), based upon Randal Keynes' book, Annie's Box, about the life of his great great grandfather, Charles Darwin.
